India’s performing arts ecosystem—especially Classical Dance Bharatanatyam and allied traditions—faces three structural challenges:

  • Fragmented knowledge systems (guru-based, undocumented)
  • Limited access to structured learning
  • Lack of technology integration

At the same time, India is leading globally in AI and digital public infrastructure.

Vidyakala looks to emerge at this intersection – A national platform combining Cultural Preservation + AI + Education + Livelihoods

Core Objectives

  1. Preservation
  • Digitize performances, temple traditions, and compositions

  • Standardised modules + guru-led training
  1. AI Innovation
  • Pose estimation for Bharatanatyam
  • Tala (rhythm) tracking
  • Bhava (expression) recognition
  1. Livelihoods
  • Marketplace for artists, teachers, performers
  • Workshops, gigs, cultural tourism

In Indian Culture, we have sixty-four distinct kala’s (arts) each distinct from the other. The arts cover a wide spectrum of  talents and if some come under fine arts, others come under physical feats such as yoga, art of playing music on water, solving enigmatic verses, art of knowing provincial dialects, magic etc.

Apart from these 64 kalas, our texts also distinguish fourteen different kinds of Vidya’s (Sciences).

-Chapter 10, Bhagavad Gita

O King, those best of persons, Lord Krishna and Lord Balarama, being themselves the original promulgators of all varieties of knowledge, could immediately assimilate each and every subject after hearing it explained just once. Thus with fixed concentration They learned the sixty-four arts and skills in as many days and nights. Thereafter, O King, They satisfied Their spiritual master by offering him Guru Dakshina

Krishna and Balarama mastered the 64 arts in 64 days at the ashrama of Sandipana in Ujjain

At Vidyakala we are building a platform that would help Artist Register and a Student Learn.
